Servant Stage Company's AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS Opens Next Month Image

Hold on to your seats for the original amazing race, Around the World in 80 Days, presented by Servant Stage Company September 7-17, 2017 at The Uptown Theatre at Lancaster Alliance Church.

An award-winning comedy adapted by Mark Brown, Around the World in 80 Days is based on the classic novel by Jules Verne. Phileas Fogg agrees to an outrageous wager that puts his fortune and his life at risk. With his resourceful servant Passepartout, Fogg sets out to circle the globe in an unheard of 80 days. But his every step is dogged by a detective who thinks he's a robber on the run. Danger, romance, and comic surprises abound in this whirlwind of a show.

"There are forty characters played by five different actors," says guest Director Chris Wert, whom Servant Stages audiences will remember from previous productions of The Importance of Being Earnest and Sherlock Holmes. "Mark Brown's adaptation is a high adrenaline, fast-paced, and hysterical journey which speaks to the 8-year-old kid and sophisticated adult in all of us." Wert currently serves as the Director of Story Development at Sight & Sound Theatres.

Around the World in 80 Days features a cast of professional talent, including Dan Deal as Phileas Fogg, Jacob Daniel Cummings as Passepartout, Brian McCreary as Detective Fix, Kristen Brewer as Aouda and Andrew Zahn featured in multiple roles.

"Chris Wert has done an excellent job of imparting his vision to us," says cast member Kristen Brewer, who has appeared locally at Sight & Sound and American Music Theater, and penned last season's production of Sherlock Holmes. "Not to mention, it is a gift to work with these amazing people. We love the material and we love working with each other. No doubt that will transfer onstage. It is sure to be delightful!"

Around the World in 80 Days runs September 7-17 in The Uptown Theatre at Lancaster Alliance Church, 210 Pitney Road, Lancaster. All performances are pay-what-you-will. Reserved tickets are required and can be reserved by visiting www.ServantStageCompany.com or by calling 717-455-0255.

Servant Stage Company is a non-profit theater serving Lancaster County since 2011 and bringing exceptional entertainment to over 25,000 audience members each year.
