On Sunday, October 22nd, Hershey Area Playhouse will hold the first ever 10,000 Steps Walk-a-thon fundraiser from 1 PM - 3 PM. (Rain date Sunday, October 29th) The Walk-A-Thon promises to be a fun and fit activity for the whole family, with a beautiful walking trail laid out starting at the playhouse. We've mapped out a leisurely walk on tree lined sidewalks, equivalent to about 5000 steps.

If you are interested in completing the entire 10,000 steps recommended by the American Heart Association, two laps of the route will get you there. Our goal is to help the fundraising committee raise at least $15,000.00 which will help pay off the remaining balance on our mortgage. Help us stay fiscally fit by taking 10,000 steps for your health and ours! If each walker or team of walkers raises $300.00, we will achieve our goal.

We're hoping to make this walk-a-thon the best fundraising event ever, so for those who love a little competition, there are prizes for the top three walkers who raise the most dollars, and free food for all to celebrate our success.

Follow these four simple steps below to participate:

Step One: Register online (so we know how much food to plan) and download a pledge form. To register please go to https://goo.gl/forms/xZXgo0Ix7pDiNkJl2 or the Playhouse website at www.hersheyareaplayhouse.com

Step Two: Decide on your step goal - and fill in the goal on the front of the form. We've mapped out a leisurely walk on tree lined sidewalks, one lap of the course is equivalent to about 5000 steps, two laps is equivalent to about 10,000 steps.

Step Three: Ask friends and neighbors to pledge!
There will be prizes for the top pledges raised. (top three pledge earners will be eligible) Donors can pledge anything from a half penny (.005) a step, a penny a step (.01) up to five (.05) or name your own amount! They may also choose to pledge one fixed amount of their choice. Families may walk as a team. Please be sure to collect the pledged amounts to bring the day of the event, along with your form. All donations are tax deductible. Checks should be made out to the Hershey Area Playhouse.

Step Four: Bring the pledge monies you collected, along with your pledge sheet and come out and walk the course.
Bring your pledges, your pledge sheet and your sneakers to the Hershey Area Playhouse on the grounds of Country Meadows Hershey Campus, 830 Cherry Drive, Hershey PA. Water, rest rooms and first aid stations will be available at the Playhouse. We will also have roaming safety teams with water for you along the route, and refreshments at the end!

Can't make the day of the event? No problem! Walk on your own on your favorite route and then just send us your pledge sheet and pledges with a picture of your step counter showing the number of steps walked. Pledges must be received by Wednesday October 18th to be eligible for the most dollars raised contest. Mail donations to:
Hershey Area Playhouse
P.O. Box 703
Hershey, PA 17033
