Gettysburg Community Theatre, the not-for-profit 501c3 organization located in the former Elks Lodge at 49 York Street within the first block of Lincoln Square in historic downtown Gettysburg, PA, will present Lerner & Loewe's CAMELOT tonight, August 14, through August 23, 2015 at 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays and at 2pm on Sundays.

Tickets can be purchased over the phone at (717) 334-2692 or online at www.GettysburgCommunityTheatre.org or by visiting the box office during box office hours Tuesdays-Fridays 4-7pm.

The production is being directed by Mike Baker, with vocal music direction by Jane Johnston, choreography by Nikki Bull, and live orchestra being led by Vanessa Rice.

Starring in the cast is GCT's Founding Executive/Artistic Director, Chad-Alan Carr, as he steps out of the director's chair and onto the stage in the iconic role of King Arthur.

His two co-stars are actually former students of his from years ago, Katie Pellegrino of Gettysburg plays Guenevere, and Owen Yingling of Littlestown plays Lancelot.

Also featured in the cast is Gettysburg College Alum John Rudy as Lord Pellinore, Eric Watson of Littlestown will play Mordred, Amy Janos of Littlestown plays Nimue, Benjamin Incaprera of Gettysburg plays Squire Dap, Max Carlson of Gettysburg plays Tom of Warwick, and the cast also includes Ian Kress, Samantha Haskell, Dani Meyers, Allan Hansen, Madison Melton, Kaetlin Wienholt, and Linden Carbaugh in the ensemble as Knights and Ladies.

An obvious favorite musical of the Kennedy Administration, and one of the most popular Broadway shows of the 1960s, not only did Camelot run for over a year, but its original cast album was one of the top selling albums of the year. How many current Broadway shows can boast that? The show features Music, Book and Lyrics by creative duo Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe (My Fair Lady, Brigadoon) and is based on the King Arthur legends found in T.H White's novel The Once and Future King. The show has had more success on Broadway than in London, despite the obvious British interest in the show and legends overall. Julie Andrews and Richard Burton are famous names that have been attached to the show, which has memorable songs such as 'The Simple Joys of Maidenhood', 'If Ever I Would Leave You', 'How To Handle A Woman', 'What Do The Simple Folk Do?', and the title song 'Camelot'.

Tickets are now on sale for this production which will be quite different than any other production of Camelot patrons may have seen, as it will be in GCT's very intimate 80 seat black box theatre which relies on very little scenery and allows the actors to be the main focal point and lets the audience's imagination move freely. Director Mike Baker has previously directed A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum and Oliver! for GCT, and is a graduate of both Millersville University and Gettysburg College. He teaches English and Theatre at Littlestown High School.

GCT Mission Statement: To inspire creativity and confidence, provide cultural enrichment, and instill a love of the theatre arts in young and the young at heart through quality education, training and performing experiences in musical theatre.
