Oklahoma Shakespeare Young Company Theatre Camp

Oklahoma Shakespeare's Young Company is a week-long summer theatre camp for teens run by Oklahoma Shakespeare (formerly Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park) in Oklahoma City. Students in grades 7-12 learn the fundamentals of classical acting through a hands-on, interactive rehearsal process, working toward a shortened production of a Shakespeare play that is performed for a main-stage audience. Daily instruction covers Shakespeare's history and language, voice work, memorization techniques, performance preparation, building cast unity, and theatrical vocabulary, with the goal of changing how young people feel about performing Shakespeare. Rehearsals are held at Oklahoma Shakespeare on the Paseo in Oklahoma City, with performances staged outdoors.
