About this camp
MusiCamp Alberta is a provincial summer music camp hosted at Red Deer Polytechnic in Red Deer, Alberta. The 2026 season offers four week-long programs: the David J Peterkin Symphonic Band for intermediate to advanced instrumentalists, the Frank E Dunnigan Concert Band for beginning to intermediate instrumentalists, and a Musical Theatre Performance program for ages 12-18 of any experience level, all running August 2-8, plus a Jazz Band Workshop for ages 13-18 with at least a year of instrument experience running August 9-15. Faculty are performers and teachers who work alongside camp staff on artistry, discipline and appreciation of music, and each week ends with a final concert that is live-streamed. Scholarships and bursaries are available, funded in part by an annual 50/50 raffle.
Registration opens April 1 each year through Red Deer Polytechnic. The age limit to attend is 18, and campers cannot turn 19 before camp starts. Jazz Band Workshop is for ages 13-18 with at least one year of instrument experience; Musical Theatre Performance is for ages 12-18 at any experience level. Scholarships and bursaries are available with a May 31 application deadline, and Red Deer Polytechnic offers additional scholarships.
