The Civilians Announce Jill Sobule & TIMES SQUARE A New Musical
The Civilians (Steve Cosson, Artistic Director), the award-winning New York-based theater company, presents Jill Sobule & Times Square, a new musical on February 5, 2018, at Joe's Pub. Join Jill Sobule and her collaborators for a special performance of songs from Times Square, a new musical about two girls who find courage, love, and rock and roll while on the run in the rough and sleazy streets of the old Times Square. Inspired by the cult classic movie of the same name, Sobule and her longtime collaborator Robin Eaton have created a score that evokes the eclectic musical landscape of late 70's NYC, from the downtown CBGB's sound to heartfelt ballads.
Composers, Lyricists and Performers: The evening will feature songs by Jill Sobule, and Robin Eaton. Performers include Jill Sobule, Robin Eaton, Ada Westfall, Jo Lampert, MinJi Kim, Caitlin Cobb-Vialet, among others.

Led by Artistic Director Steve Cosson, The Civilians supports the creation of new theater from creative investigations into the most vital questions of the present. Recent credits include The Undertaking, The Abominables, Pretty Filthy, and Mr. Burns. In the 2014/2015 season, The Civilians were the first ever theater company in residence at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Since its founding in 2001, the OBIE award-winning company has been produced at The Public Theater, Vineyard Theatre, BAM Next Wave Festival, Barrow Street Theater, Playwrights Horizons; and nationally at Center Theatre Group, A.R.T., La Jolla Playhouse, and Actors Theatre of Louisville, among others. Upcoming projects include Times Square, by Jim Lewis, Music and lyrics by Jill Sobule and Robin Eaton, directed by Steve Cosson. Inspired by the film, Times Square is produced in residence at NYU's Tisch School of Drama and by Special Arrangement with Studiocanal. Times Square will run from February 22 - March 3, 2018.
