When they started singing together three years ago, The Chick Peas quickly realized that they love a wide range of music. Their current repertoire includes American standards such as “Night and Day,” catchy tunes from the thirties and forties, some Beach Boys, Beatles and Bacharach songs, classic blues like “Centerpiece,” and contemporary pop tunes as well originals composed by members of the group.

Their unique sound comes from silky three-part harmony and arrangements for piano, guitar and violin.

Singer and pianist Jody Albright holds a Master's in Music from New England Conservatory in Boston and has been singing professionally in Vermont since 1981. In 1989 she began teaching voice both privately and as an adjunct college instructor at various colleges in Massachusetts and Vermont. Currently, she coordinates the performing arts classes at Community College of Vermont and also sings with Pine Street Jazz.

Darienne Oaks, who sings and plays violin, is a dancer turned teacher, musician, and writer and has been playing the violin since the third grade. She plays in community orchestras, in the band “Lotango,” which features Argentine Tango music for dancers, and has been singing in the shower forever. Darienne teaches part time at Mary Hogan Elementary School in Middlebury and owns her educational consulting business Moveable Feats.

Linda Pervier grew up in a singing family in Maine, starting out performing in church with her Brothers and Sisters. As an adult Linda particularly enjoyed performing quirky, rootsy pop music with Maine bands including the Blue Sky Serenaders acoustic trio, the Spotlights, and rockabilly-inspired Rock and a Hard Place. She currently directs the Alliance Francaise as she heads toward a year's sabbatical from the Shelburne Museum.

The Chick Peas will perform in the Byers Studio at Town Hall Theater on Thursday November 29 at 7 pm. Tickets are $10 and are available at www.townhalltheater.org, 802 382-9222, at the THT Box Office (Mon-Sat, noon-5 pm) or at the door, if available. The THT Cabaret features snacks and a cash bar.
