Stephanie J. Block, Julie James & More Set for RETREAT TO BROADWAY & FRIENDS Concert at Feinstein's/54 Below

By: Jun. 24, 2016

A "Retreat to Broadway & Friends" concert featuring five Broadway and two Off-Broadway performers is scheduled for Saturday, July 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Feinstein's/54 Below in New York City. For ticket information, visit https://54below.com/events/retreat-broadway-friends/.

The performers - Stephanie J. Block (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Anything Goes, 9 to 5, The Boy from Oz, The Pirate Queen, Wicked, "Orange is the New Black"), Kathy Brier (Hairspray, "Boardwalk Empire," "One Life to Live"), Kathy Deitch (Wicked, Footloose, "American Horror Story"), Michael Gioia (The Secret Garden, "Bitching and Belting"), Julie James ("The Julie James Show," "Broadway Names with Julie James"), Olivia Phillip (Disaster, The Book of Mormon, Ghost) and Marty Thomas (Wicked, Xanadu, The Secret Garden) - will entertain Audience members with a variety of Broadway show tunes.

This family-friendly concert benefits Retreat to Broadway, a national non-profit project that pairs innovative programming with live theater. Their program categories (Educational, Professional, Social & Spiritual) provide unique experiences of inspiration, renewal, and transformation for any audience of any size, age, or location. Participants have access to their exclusive Retreat to Broadway Speakers Bureau, a group of 10 pre-approved theater professionals who are available to speak privately to retreat groups. All concert proceeds benefit future Retreat to Broadway programming and their scholarship program that assists retreat participants who experience financial hardship.

In a statement, Speakers Bureau member Stephanie J. Block shared, "Since the tender age of seven, I was always reminded that when I sang, I was praying twice. Knowing this filled my spirit twice over. I still feel this way when I sing, especially for a cause that is close to my heart. This is how I feel when speaking with and performing for Retreat to Broadway, and I look forward to our concert on July 16." the concert happens to fall on the 40th birthday of Retreat to Broadway's Director & Founder, Brian Reavey. He says, "I'm ecstatic to announce that 50% of our ten-person Speakers Bureau will be present to perform at our inaugural show at Feinstein's/54 Below. More than 1,000 people have experienced our programs and many of them will be in attendance on July 16, in addition to folks completely new to Retreat to Broadway. Where else can you see a Tony nominated actress, an Emmy nominated actress, original cast members of Wicked and a three-time Broadway actor who defeated Britney Spears on 'Star Search' perform on the same stage together in an intimate setting for a worthwhile cause?"
