Photo Flash: Inside The Return Of THE EARLY NIGHT SHOW LIVE! WITH JOSHUA TURCHIN
The Green Room 42, along with Executive Director Yael Silver, played host on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 to the second edition cabaret of The Early Night Show LIVE!, created, written, directed, and performed by 12-year-old Joshua Turchin. The young performer, writer, and composer drew lots of laughs and applause throughout the cabaret featuring music, sketch comedy, improv; while accompanying a range of special guests throughout the night including Mckayla Twiggs, Jennifer Blood, Rachel Resheff, and Broadway Kids Jam members Molly Richardson, Hudson Loverro, Kolette Tetlow and Shaina Turchin.
Highlights of the cabaret included a Children's TV song duel between Joshua Turchin and Jennifer Blood, a reinvented "Anything You Can Do" from Annie Get Your Gun featuring Joshua and Jennifer with a tap off, Jennifer Blood's wickedly comical version of "Poor Unfortunate Souls" from Disney's The Little Mermaid, Mckayla Twiggs singing a brilliant version of Disney song, "Reflection" from Mulan, and Rachel Resheff's comedic and beautiful take on "I Love Play Rehearsal" from Be More Chill. Joshua Turchin's vocal and piano performance of his original song "Fly" from his original upcoming musical, The Perfect Fit left the audience roaring with applause.
The show included additional songs, including Turchin's original score of "The Princess Song", "Five Little Ducklings" as well as musical comedy skits, and more fun involving audience participation.
Broadway Kids Jam member Molly Richardson led a duet of "Seventeen" from Heathers the Musical with Joshua Turchin on vocals and piano. A second mash up featuring Mean Girls songs led by Kolette Tetlow, Molly Richardson, Mckayla Twiggs, Shaina Turchin and Hudson Loverro resulted in a friendly battle of original vs. new mean girls. Broadway Kids Jam ended the night with an upbeat version of Journey's "Don't Stop Believing".
Donate2Dance attended and collected guests' gently worn dance shoes to donate to children in need. Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids was also in attendance to collect donations from guests to kick off their fall fundraising season and promote Joshua Turchin and Broadway Kids Jam's involvement in the November 3 Broadway Run.
