Mitchell Jarvis to Bring JACQUES BREL IS ALIVE AND WELL AND LIVING ELSEWHERE to 54 Below

54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents Mitchell Jarvis in Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living Everywhere. Jarvis's solo concert debut is a journey through the mind of the legendary songwriter and poet that gives his bold and starkly beautiful songs a modern twist. Backed by a four-piece band, Jarvis weaves the evening together with dialogue composed entirely of Brel quotes and writings. Now more than ever, these songs of love, death and hope from the '50s and '60s resonate with a new generation.

Mitchell Jarvis in Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living Everywhere plays 54 Below (254 West 54th Street) on Thursday, January 22 at 9:30 PM, and Wednesday, February 4 at 9:30 PM. An actor, singer, writer, and director who has been living in New York City since graduating from the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama in 2002, Mitchell Jarvis is probably best known for creating the role of Lonny, the narrator of Rock of Ages, and as Keystone Light Beer pitch man, Keith Stone. He was also co-creator and director of the Web-turned-Hulu series, It Could Be Worse, with his writing partner, Wesley Taylor. Jarvis was turned on to Brel as a freshman in college, when a showcase of Brel tunes opened his eyes to not only a new way of viewing the musical theatre, but a new way of viewing humanity.

Musical director/arranger/pianist Jonathan Ivie has created all new arrangements of a dozen classic Brel songs, and he'll lead a four piece band that gives them contemporary twist. Ivie was musical director of Ha! The Musical (2014 NY Comedy Festival), musical director/arranger for Sweet Dreams, the musical featuring the songs of Air Supply, and music director sub at Rock of Ages, 50 Shades! The Musical Parody, and Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812. He is the co-author of a new musical in development, Rob Ford Rockstar.
