Molly Pope -- brassy belter/whiskey guzzler/benevolent lunatic -- will return with the acclaimed concert MOLLY POPE LIKES YOUR STATUS for one night only at The Duplex (61 Christopher Street) on Thursday, March 31 at 9:30 PM.

With MOLLY POPE LIKES YOUR STATUS, Ms. Pope sheds all pretense of humility and entreats you to adore her for an hour while she makes loud noises. Unable to deny that she defines her self-worth entirely via social media notifications, the "viscerally thrilling alto" (Time Out New York) exploits her fragile ego and vocal chops for your entertainment. Expect the unexpected juxtapositions of song and substance with a dash of The Great American Songbook thrown in for old-timey measure. Over-sharing? Of course. Sing-a-long? Yes. Two encores? Why not.

MOLLY POPE LIKES YOUR STATUS recently debuted in Boston at American Repertory Theatre's Oberon space in conjunction with Provincetown's Afterglow Festival. She was profiled in the Boston Globe and Edge Boston praised the show for its "intense theatricality, self-deprecating humor and raw emotional vulnerability." Pope was named a 2016 Bistro Award winner for "Creative Artistry" as well as being a MAC Award nominee for "Musical Comedy Performer." Recent major theater credits include the Off Broadway production of Found at the Atlantic Theater Company and Horseplay, or the Fickle Mistress at La MaMa ETC / Theatre Askew, for which The New York Times raved that "Ms. Pope, an assured performer with a brazen alto, shines." Her live album An Audience with Molly Pope, recorded at Joe's Pub and produced by Julian Fleisher, will be released later this year.

MOLLY POPE LIKES YOUR STATUS got a rave review from Out.com (available here), "the girl has better word of mouth buzz than pretty much anything running in Manhattan. Waiting for her to take the stage, it was obvious that a good portion of the audience were returning fans as they excitedly chatted up the newbies to let us know we were in for something special. With pipes like a young Bette Midler and stage presence like a top-of-her-game Liza Minnelli, Pope draws the audience in with ease."

MOLLY POPE is a critically acclaimed cabarettist whose shows have played Joe's Pub, Feinstein's at the Regency, Ars Nova, The Laurie Beechman Theater and the Adelaide Cabaret Festival in Australia. She has been named a Time Out New York "Top Ten Cabaret Act" in 2008 and 2012 and a Village Voice Best of NYC 2011 for "Best Singer To Turn Life Into A Cabaret." Branded the "kicky, neo-retro cabaret chanteuse" and hailed as "tremendously entertaining" by The Wall Street Journal, she has also performed at The Cafe Carlyle ("Tales From The Jazz Age"), the Afterglow Festival in Provincetown and "Our Hit Parade" at Joe's Pub. Other stage credits include Dan Fishback's The Material World at Dixon Place and Wonderful Town at Gallery Players. For more, visit www.MollyPope.com.

MOLLY POPE LIKES YOUR STATUS will be performed at The Duplex (61 Christopher Street at 7th Ave, New York, NY 10014) on Thursday, March 31 at 9:30 PM. The cover charge is $15 in advance and $20 at the door with an additional two-drink minimum. You must be 21+ years of age to attend. For reservations, visit PurplePass.com.
