The Cabaret Soirée season is back DownStairs at the Maj every Wednesday to Saturday from 20 June to 21 July 2012 with a line up of national and local cabaret artists headlining five fresh and original shows.

Perth’s own Lucy Durack and Matthew Robinson will open this year’s Cabaret Soirée with their latest show, Opening Doors, for five performances only from Wednesday 20 to Saturday 23 June. This will be Lucy’s and Matthew’s fourth season at the venue, following their hit cabaret shows Metro Street (A Sneak Preview A Narrated Concert), Immaculate Confection and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

Recently announced, Lucy Durack won the role of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde the Musical opening October in Sydney. Durack also played the role of Glinda the Good Witch in the original Australian cast of Wicked and plays Cherry in the highly anticipated feature film Goddess, to be released later this year.

Lucy was cast in the Sydney and Melbourne productions of Mamma Mia! before she graduated from Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Her other stage credits include Peggy Sawyer in 42nd Street, Miss Dorothy in the Australian premiere of Thoroughly Modern Millie, Lois Lane/Bianca in Kiss Me Kate, Cinderella in Into The Woods, Rikki Rose in Respect and Laurey in Oklahoma.

Matthew, also a Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts graduate has recently returned from New York City having been awarded a 2011 Churchill Fellowship to study musical theatre composition under the mentorship of Stephen Schwartz. He recently won the 2011 UTAS/Stephen Schwartz Songwriting Award for the song Dignity from his first musical Metro Street.

This duo has achieved tremendous critical acclaim Australia-wide for their original, inspiring and clever take on cabaret. Audiences are in for an exclusive treat as the pair brings you the very best of Robinson’s catalogue and share a secret or two along the way.
