Marissa Rosen - The Pillar of Strength

Marissa Rosen stands head and shoulders above the rest of the cabaret community in many ways, although, maybe not literally. The tiny titan with the big presence and the big voice has been a staple of the industry for many years, starting out alongside her (practically) lifelong bestie Marty Thomas, as the twosome created nightclub acts centered around the Marty and Marissa brand, divas, and glitter... lots and lots of glitter. Always a force for good and a force of vocal power, Marissa has been beloved by artists and audiences from day one. These last few years, even though Marty and Marissa released a holiday album and remain strongly associated, Marissa is in the spotlight as a support singer. Doing backup vocals for the likes of Orfeh, Jessica Vosk, and Kristin Chenoweth, Marissa made her Carnegie Hall and Metropolitan Opera debuts last season, and even though she is a very fancy lady now, she is never too high-falutin' to put on a peignoir and sing some Rocky Horror Show with The Skivvies - nevertheless, when it comes time to be in the background again, Marissa Rosen knows what her job is: to sing backup. Never does Marissa take the light away from the artist at the center mic, and when she is in the row of backup singers, her eyes never leave the headliner, as she tacitly reminds the audience who they came to see, directing their gaze where it belongs, with love and a smile. She is cherished by all, performers and patrons alike, and everyone wants her in the show they are producing and the show they are attending. A true original and a rare talent, Marissa Rosen is one of Broadway World Cabaret's favorite artists and a leader in the cabaret and concert community, all of whom are still waiting for that first Marissa Rosen solo show.
