On November 19, 20, 27, & 28, Brooklyn born, award-winning Broadway performer Capathia Jenkins and Chicago native, award-winning songwriter Louis Rosen will perform a selection of their "brilliant... catchy new pop standards" (NY Magazine) at Joe's Pub in New York.

Over the course of three albums together, the alchemical duo have blended folk, jazz, pop, blues, gospel, and Broadway into a unique music that is "completely new... yet as embraceable as any from the classic American Songbook" (Bloomberg News).  The New York Times' Stephen Holden raved that "Mr. Rosen's earthy, tuneful songs are notable... a continually shifting musical patchwork" while Jenkins, "sweet, sunny voice... smile[s] through the music."

This show is part of a tour celebrating the duo's 5th anniversary together, with Jenkins providing the radiant, soaring vocal muse for multi-instrumentalist Rosen's richly textured songs.  The pair will be performing selections from their three albums: THE ACHE OF POSSIBILITY; ONE OUNCE OF TRUTH; The Nikki Giovanni Songs; and SOUTH SIDE STORIES, a set of songs inspired by the Chicago neighborhood where Rosen grew up, as well as new songs from their forthcoming album. Jenkins & Rosen have earned a name for themselves not only for their all-original songs, but also as interpreters of contemporary poetry, with a number of songs comprising Rosen's musical settings of poems by Nikki Giovanni.

From the pulsating jazz of songs such as  "How You Gonna Save 'Em", to the honkey tonk overlay of "The Middle Class (Use To Be) Blues" to plain show stoppers like the whirling conjure song, "The Black Loom", Capathia Jenkins and Louis Rosen deliver a concert that is hot, cool and unlike anything else.
