CAP21 Announces 'SOS: Songs On Six' Benefit Concert March 23

THE THEATRE COMPANY @ CAP21 presents a benefit concert of new songs from new musicals. The concert will take place Monday, March 23rd at 7:30pm at CAP21 located on the 6th Floor of 18 West 18th Street, NYC. Tickets are $30 and include a post-show wine reception with the writers and performers. The evening is being directed by Ryan Mekenian with musical direction by J. Oconer Navarro. Proceeds will benefit the New Works program at CAP21.

The writing teams feature recipients of the Emmy Award, the Jonathan Larson Foundation Award, the Richard Rodgers Award, and are among the Dramatist Guild's "50 Playwrights to Watch." Participating writers include: Will Aronson & Daniel Maté, Debra Barsha, Randy Blair & Timothy Michael Drucker, Kate Ferber, Lance Horne, Tim Huang, Michael Kooman & Christopher Dimond, Tina Lear & Elise Forier, Paul Loesel & Scott Burkell, Brian Lowdermilk & Kait Kerrigan, Brett Macias & Caroline Murphy, Curtis Moore & Tom Mizer, Scott Murphy & Nathan Christensen, Mike Pettry & Heidi Heilig, Randy Redd & Blair Ross, Joy Son & Kirsten A. Guenther, and Will Van Dyke & Josh Halloway.

SOS: Songs on Six will feature Broadway and Off-Broadway's finest singers. The evening will also include songs from The Trouble With Doug by Will Aronson and Daniel Maté. This new musical is being produced by the Theatre Company @ CAP21 in June.

CAP21 was founded in 1993 by Executive Artistic Director Frank Ventura with the purpose of creating new works, developing new talent and building new audiences. Over the past 14 years, CAP21 has developed and presented 195 new plays and musicals by more than 250 writers including Off and Off-Off Broadway productions such as The Immigrant (2000), Beach Radio (2002), Killing Louise (2003), Waiting For My Man (2004), Six of One (2005), The 60's Project (2005), Goddess Wheel (2005), The Classics Professor (2006), A Womb With a View (2007), Pages (2007), Evidence of Things Unseen (2008) and Safe Home (2008). The Theatre Company @ CAP21 is supported in part with public funds from NEA and NYSCA.
