Review: Tony Award Nominated Nightingale Sings with 'High Standards' at The Metropolitan Room NYC!
Corinna Sowers Adler took us all soaring to High Standards at The Metropolitan Room in NYC. This beautiful soprano was nominated for 2 Tony Awards in the category of Best Musical Theatre Educator of the year. Together with Pianist & Musical Director Alex Rybeck at the keys, Ms. Adler glided her vocals with ease through music from the American SongBook all the way to Billy Joel, John Lennon and Joni Mitchell. Mr. Rybeck's flawless and precise accompaniments were incredible. His ability to change his musical delivery no matter what the style diplayed his instrumentalist expertise. Even his soft, unintrusive vocals were delivered with taste and experience.
Ms. Adler is best known for her work with young people mentoring through the difficult maze of technique in the areas of Musical Theatre development, however, her performance was that of a seasoned pro who certainly walks her own talk. A lovely songstress and comfortable performer herself, she graced the stage with a beautiful presence and a gentle aura.
The audience encompassed ages 12- 95 with all eyes on Ms. Adler. Her warm humor and seamless gestures weaved together a wonderful performance of soothing song and took us all to a High Standard of viewing. In attendance was also her husband of 14 years, Nicholas Adler, friends and family, together with a few of her students who were all captivated by her display of vocal agility.
Look for Corinna Sowers Adler, as we are sure that she will be here in NYC for years to come and are looking forward to seeing what else she will be doing with her talents, her grace and her ability to take us all to a higher musical standard. Kudos Corinna! Much Respect!
