Ozzie Martinez of NBC 4 New York Receives 2012 “EL Award”

NBC 4 New York's Assistant News Director, Ozzie Martinez, received the annual "EL Award" by El Diario La Prensa. Martinez was selected as one of the most successful and influential Latinos in corporate, business, entertainment, sports and community arenas in the Tri-State area.
Martinez has a rich history that solidifies his sense of pride in his Hispanic roots. After his family fled the Castro regime of Cuba when he was a child, Martinez began his broadcasting career as an intern at MTV Latin America in Miami. He earned his way up in the broadcast industry and has the distinction of being among the youngest of his colleagues to hold his current position as NBC 4 New York's Assistant New Director.Prior to his promotion, Martinez held the positions of Night Daypart Manager and Senior Daypart manager, responsible for launching the noon and 5pm broadcasts, integrating the station website, social networking, and maintaining the NBC 4 brand across multiple platforms. Martinez has distinguished himself by managing a number of breaking stories, including Hurricane Irene and the Times Square bomb plot, among others.NBC 4 New York is a part of NBC Owned Television Stations.
