Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg opens up to CBS THIS MORNING Co-Host Norah O'Donnell about putting her life back together after the sudden and tragic death of her husband, her revealing new book, and more in an interview for CBS SUNDAY MORNING to be broadcast April 23, 2017 (9:00 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network.
On May 1, 2015, while vacationing in Mexico, Sandberg's husband, Dave Goldberg, died suddenly while exercising. He was just 47. An autopsy, Sandberg says, showed that he died of coronary heart disease and had a cardiac arrhythmia. Sandberg, then known for her bestselling book Lean In, which urged women in the work place to stand up for themselves, unexpectedly found herself confronting her toughest challenge as a single mother of two young children. "My rabbi told me to 'lean into the suck'," Sandberg tells O'Donnell. "And I thought, 'that is not what I meant when I said lean in.' But, it was really good advice. Because what he was telling me, 'this is going to suck. Don't fight it.'" In an emotional and wide-ranging interview Sandberg talks with O'Donnell about breaking the news of their father's death to her children and how they worked together to move forward after the loss. She also talks about coping with grief and the other life lessons she explores in her new book, "Option B - Facing Adversity, Building Resilience and Finding Joy," co-written with friend and psychologist Adam Grant.Videos
