Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Magic Flute has always been one of the most beloved works in the operatic repertoire, and is presently the third most frequently performed opera worldwide. Containing some of the last music written by Mozart before his death at age 35, the opera contains many well-known arias, including The Queen of the Night's "Revenge Aria" from Act 2 with some of the highest notes required of any singer in any opera.
Full of magical melodies and fantastic creatures, Mozart's beloved tale follows Prince Tamino and bird-catcher Papageno on an adventure to rescue Princess Pamina. As they face unexpected trials and challenges on their journey, audiences will marvel as the genius and imagination of the composer unfolds before their eyes. The opera is heavily symbolic - Mozart was a freemason, and the opera is noted for its prominent Masonic elements and is also influenced by Enlightenment philosophy. This will be Opera Idaho's third production of The Magic Flute, previously performed in 1989 and again in 1999. Julianna Tauschinger-DempseyVideos
