Lobsterpalooza 2013, the Indianapolis Opera's annual fundraiser, will be co-chaired this year by Indiana Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird and his wife, Dinah. The event is Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Basile Opera Center in Indianapolis.

The Birds say they are pleased to co-chair the Lobsterpalooza because of their belief in helping the local arts. The couple has lived in Indianapolis since moving here in 1997, when Larry became the Pacers head coach. He was named president of basketball operations in 2003, remained in that role until 2012 and, after a year off, returned to the same position this June.

The fourth annual Lobsterpalooza is a casual evening of entertainment, live music and a traditional Maine lobster boil served with award-winning clam chowder, steamed clams, fresh vegetables and corn on the cob. The fresh Maine lobster, driven in live the night before, is so sweet and succulent it practically melts in your mouth. (Chicken dishes available.)

The event will take place rain or shine. Tickets are available at http://indyopera.org.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Frank and Katrina Basile Opera Center.
