(Los Angeles) September 8, 2015 - LA Opera has partnered with Classical KUSC for the ninth consecutive year to bring the excitement of live performances to KUSC listeners. The opening night of LA Opera's 30th Anniversary Season, a double bill of Gianni Schicchi and Pagliaccibeginning at 6pm on September 12, will be broadcast locally on 91.5fm. The live broadcast will also be streamed online for audiences around the world at KUSC.org.

The broadcast will be hosted by two of KUSC's most popular on-air personalities, Duff Murphy and Alan Chapman. KUSC has broadcast LA Opera's season-opening performance every year since 2007.

Plácido Domingo will make his role debut in the title role of Gianni Schicchi, which returns in Woody Allen's riotous staging of Giacomo Puccini's comic masterpiece. Grant Gershon conducts a cast that also includes tenor Arturo Chacón-Cruz as Rinuccio and Andriana Chuchman as Lauretta. After the intermission, Mr. Domingo will move to the orchestra pit to conduct Ruggero Leoncavallo's dramatic Pagliacci.
