Daniele Rustioni continues his success as Principal Conductor of the Opéra de Lyon this with a new production of Arrigo Boïto's verismo rarity Mefistofele. Following his memorable debut with the Ulster Orchestra in May 2017 and his critically-acclaimed return to the orchestra in August 2018, Rustioni again leads the Ulster Orchestra on November 16, 2018. This winter, Rustioni will make his long-awaited American orchestral debut when he leads the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra in three performances of Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 3, January 31-February 2, 2019.

Daniele Rustioni opens his second season as Principal Conductor of Opéra de Lyon with a new production of Boïto's verismo rarity Mefistofele, with performances beginning on October 11, 2018. The highly-anticipated new production of Mefistofele will be directed by Alex Ollé, Artistic Director of La Fura dels Baus, and stars John Relyea in the title role with Paul Groves as Fausto and Evgenia Muraveva performing both Margherita and Elena. Rustioni will lead all seven performances from October 11 through October 23, 2018.

In March 2018 Rustioni crowned his first season as Music Director of the Opéra de Lyon with acclaimed performances of Verdi's Macbeth, Attila, and Don Carlos during the company's Verdi Festival. Highlights of the upcoming 2018-2019 Opéra de Lyon season include a residency at the Royal Opera House (Oman) with Strauss's Eine Nacht in Venedig in November 2018, as well as a concert performance of Verdi's Nabucco in November and a new production of Tchaikovsky's The Enchantress in March 2019, both in Lyon.

On November 16, 2018, Rustioni returns to the Ulster Orchestra in Belfast, Northern Ireland conducting Busoni's Overture: Lustspiel, Schubert's Symphony No. 9, and Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3, featuring his wife violinist Francesca Dego. Rustioni made his debut with the orchestra in May 2017, and most recently led this orchestra in a performance of the rarely-heard Messidor by the Italian-British composer, Elisabetta Brusa alongside Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major with Georgian pianist Mariam Batsashvili, and Dvo?ák's Symphony No. 8. Rustioni will make his long-awaited American orchestral conducting debut with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra conducting Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 3, Respighi's Fontane di Roma, and Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 1, January 31-February 2, 2019 with cellist Julia Steckel. Rustioni made his American conducting debut in 2011 with Cherubini's Medea directed by Anne Bogart at the Glimmerglass Festival. In April 2016, he made a critically-acclaimed debut with the Metropolitan Opera, and was immediately invited back for future seasons.

Orchestral conducting highlights in 2018 - 19 will include Rustioni's continued leadership of the Orchestra della Toscana as well as guest conducting the Philharmonia Zürich, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and The Hallé.
