Barbara Frittoli to Play 'Mimi' for First Six Performances of LA BOHEME at the Met

Barbara Frittoli will sing the role of Mimì in the first six performances of Puccini's La Bohème at the Met this season: November 23, 27, 30, December 5 matinee, 9, and 12.

Mimì is one of 11 roles Frittoli has sung with the company, where she has recently appeared as Elisabeth de Valois in Verdi's Don Carlo; Vitellia in Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito; Donna Elvira in Mozart's Don Giovanni; Amelia in Verdi's Simon Boccanegra; and Micaëla in Bizet's Carmen. She has sung Mimì with the Teatro Regio Torino; Royal Opera, Covent Garden; Zurich Opera; and at the Met in two previous seasons, as well as on the company's 2011 tour of Japan. Later this season, she will add a new role to her Met repertory as Nedda in Leoncavallo's Pagliacci.

The fall performances of La Bohème are conducted by Paolo Carignani and will also star Ana María Martínez as Musetta, Ramón Vargas as Rodolfo, Romanian baritone Levente Molnar in his Met debut as Marcello, Alexey Lavrov as Schaunard, Christian Van Horn as Colline, and John Del Carlo as Benoit and Alcindoro.
