The Atlanta Opera has announced that Cathy Callaway Adams (of Federal Home Loan Bank Atlanta) will succeed Bill Tucker (of Tucker, Midis, and Owen LLC) as chair of the board of directors.

Adams currently serves as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer for Federal Home Loan Bank Atlanta where she has worked since 1986. In her role, Adams is charged with directing and overseeing the operations of the company, including financial operations, information technology, human resources, corporate services, and community involvement.

Currently, Adams is involved in arts organizations, community service, women's development groups, and higher education boards in Georgia and the Greater Atlanta Area. An active professional musician with a degree in Piano Performance from Tift College, and an MBA from Georgia State University, she joined The Atlanta Opera board of directors in 2011.

"We are profoundly grateful for Bill Tucker's visionary leadership. He, along with Treasurer Rhys Wilson, is responsible for putting the company on solid financial footing and ushering the Atlanta Opera into a new day," said Tomer Zvulun, the Opera's General & Artistic Director. "I am energized to see that Cathy Adams, who has successfully led the company's strategic plan into completion last month, is taking the reins as chair. Her dynamic and energetic personality will help propel The Atlanta Opera to the next level and cement our position as a vital leader of opera in America."

Bill Tucker is stepping down after five years from his role as chairman, but will remain on the board. Under his watch, the Atlanta Opera has become one of the most respected regional opera companies in the United States. Additionally, Tucker oversaw the restructuring of the organization and the hiring of current General & Artistic Director, Zvulun. Tucker stated, "I am incredibly honored to have had the opportunity to serve as chair of the Atlanta Opera. We have accomplished our near term goals and objectives and it is now time for a new talented team of leaders to take the organization to the next level. I can't wait for the upcoming season and our return to four main stage productions."

Mr. Tucker received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee and an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. He is the co-founding partner of the Atlanta-based investment banking firm Tucker, Midis, and Owen LLC. Prior to Tucker, Midis & Owen, Mr. Tucker held senior positions within the investment banking practices of Wachovia, Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young.

With Adams as chair, the board will continue to play an instrumental role in expanding the reach of the Atlanta Opera alongside Zvulun and the opera staff. The upcoming 2016-17 season includes contemporary and classic works alike, including The Abduction from the Seraglio, Silent Night, Don Pasquale, Turandot, and two productions in the Discoveries series, Maria de Buenos Aires and The Secret Gardener.
