Aimee Woods Set for Fundraiser Recital to Benefit MOVE

Aimee Woods, Assistant Director of Magnolia Music Studio-Old Town will appear in a fundraiser recital featuring select songs from the leading class voice college textbook and song anthology, The Singing Book, co-authored by Dr. Meribeth Dayme and Magnolia Music Studios founder/ director Cynthia Vaughn to benefitMOVE (Magnolia Opera and Vocal Ensemble).

The proceeds will benefit MOVE, Magnolia Opera and Vocal Ensemble, which recently performed a sold-out concert version of Menotti's Old Maid and The Thief, presented as a 1950's radio drama. MOVE, under the direction of Aimee Woods, is comprised of local emerging and professional singers with a passion for sharing opera and other vocal arts in an accessible concert-style environment. The revenue from this benefit recital will directly support MOVE's upcoming performance of a concert version of a contemporary opera.

Ms. Woods is well known to the Northern Colorado arts community after appearing in several performances throughout the Front Range, most recently as the First Lady in Loveland Opera Theatre's performance of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, in addition to performances at Union Colony Dinner Theatre and Longmont Theatre Company. In addition to her prolific performing career, Ms. Woods is a respected teacher with over twelve years experience. Recently named a Master Teacher at Magnolia Music Studio-Old Town, Ms. Woods is also the Vice President of theColorado/ Wyoming Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.

"The Singing Book is primarily a textbook for college voice class, but the arrangements are so beautiful that I'm not surprised when teachers want to perform the songs." Cynthia Vaughn commented on the repertoire selected for the upcoming recital. "I particularly like Scarlett Antaloczy's arrangements of The Water is Wide and Caro mio ben. Dr. Meribeth Dayme and I chose a wide variety of songs that are very singable and have expressive texts."

The benefit recital featuring Aimee Woods will be presented on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 7:30pm at the Magnolia Music Studio-Old Town, located at 210 West Magnolia Street, Suite 10, Fort Collins, Colorado 80521. The program will be accompanied by Karen Stoody, piano. General admission tickets are available for pre-sale for $10.00. Tickets are also available for MOVE supporters for $50.00.
