The Folk Music Society of NY presents another of its Legends Concert Series with Martin Carthy and daughter Eliza, Friday, April 10th, 2015, 8:00PM at St. John's Church, 81 Christopher Street, Manhattan. Contribution: $25; fulltime students and children under 15, $15. Tickets are available at the door or online at http://carthy.eventbrite.com. Doors open at 7:30 pm.

A legendary ballad singer and guitarist, Martin Carthy has influenced generations of artists, including Bob Dylan and Paul Simon. The BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards conferred a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014. According to the BBC: "He is regarded as one of the finest singers and interpreters of traditional music of the British Isles, as well as a highly influential and much-imitated guitarist."

Eliza Carthy, an inventive and innovative singer and fiddle-player, is the daughter of Martin and singer Norma Waterson, Eliza wears her musical heritage with ease. She is the winner of an unrivalled seven BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Eliza Carthy, twice nominated for the Mercury Prize, is undoubtedly one of the most impressive and engaging performers of her generation.

Father and daughter joined forces in 2014 to record their first duo CD of traditional material, "The Moral of the Elephant." New Yorkers can hear them together on April 10th at St. John's Church in Greenwich Village.
