Slenderbodies Release Smoky Single KING, Announce January EP Release Image

California-based duo slenderbodies share their new single "king" today and announce the January 25th release date for their upcoming EP SORAYA on tastemaker indie label Avant Garden. The smoky, suave new track features the gents' signature sotto voce style as they explore the inner workings of their creative process.

"'king' was written by taking a hard look at the way we create," slenderbodies explain. "The song focuses on tough topics of self-doubt, need for validation from the world, and a desire to be great when creating. However, we realized that so much of our positive behaviors and gifts regarding creativity were instilled in us by the strong women in our lives. First our mothers, aunts, and grandmothers. Then later on romantic partners and friends. To have someone who says they believe in you and consistently shows it is a wildly powerful thing, and 'king' pays homage to that."

In addition to "king", SORAYA will feature previously released tracks "the one" and "take you home". Throughout the year, the duo have also put out a mix of covers, revamping everything from Sade's "Smooth Operator" and Britney Spears' legendary hit "Toxic" to MGMT's "Electric Feel".

slenderbodies, composed of Max Vehuni and Benji Cormack, sing, write, produce, and mix all their own tracks. In the last year, along with headline dates around the globe, the band has toured with Milky Chance, Mura Masa, Passion Pit, and PVRIS. Meanwhile, their debut single "anemone" has continued to rack up over 20 million collective streams.
