Five-time Grammy award winner Lyle Lovett and His Acoustic Group perform at the Fred Kavli Theatre, Monday, February 23, 2015 at 7:30 pm.

A native Texan, Lovett is considered to be among the most distinctive singers to emerge during the 1980s. Known for his literate, multi-layered songs, Lovett has a unique talent for combining incisive, witty lyrical detail with an eclectic array of music, ranging from country and folk to big-band swing and traditional pop. Initially pegged as a country singer, Lovett's career has expanded beyond Nashville, attracting fans from a wide spectrum of musical genres, including rock and American roots.

He has recorded 14 albums and has sold over four million records. Among the most revered albums are Lyle Lovett; Pontiac; and Lyle Lovett and His Large Band, for which he won two Grammy awards. He has also won Grammy awards for Best Male Country Vocalist, Best Country/Dou or Group for "Blues for Dixie" and Best Pop Vocal collaboration for "Funny How Time Slips Away" with Al Green.

Lovett's career also includes several acting roles. His longest and best knows cinematic collaboration was with the late director Robert Altman. Lovett appeared in four Altman films: "The Player," "Short Cuts," "Pret-a-Porter" and "Cookie's Fortune," and scored the music for another: "Dr. T and the Women."

In his Acoustic Group, several members of Lovett's Large Band perform reinvented arrangements of his recorded songs in a way that highlights each member's exceptional vocal and instrumental abilities. Because of its smaller set-up, the Acoustic Group presentation allows for each individual in the group to expand his role in the show, including Lovett himself. Having more space allows him more time to speak and connect the dots between the stories in his songs and their inspirations and to demonstrate his connection to and appreciation for each musician surrounding him on-stage, giving people in the audience, no matter the size of the venue, a feeling of intimacy.

Single tickets are priced at $86 - $41 with group discounts available.
