Clint Black's Original Song Short-Listed for Upcoming Academy Awards

"Unbeaten," the Polaris Global Media micro-budget feature documentary about wheelchair racers tackling the most difficult road race in the world, has just overcome more tremendous odds: Clint Black's original song featured in the film, "A Better Life," has been short-listed for this year's upcoming Oscars in the Best Original Song category.
The song, written by multi-award winning Black with Rhen Boyer, is the first short-list Oscar recognition for the country artist. The film is hosted by Academy Award Nominee Dan Aykroyd ("Driving Miss Daisy").

"Unbeaten" is an inspirational true story that chronicles the exploits of 31 paraplegics as they make their way over six days in wheelchairs and hand cycles in what is known as the toughest road race in the world, "Sadler's Alaska Challenge." The course winds 267 miles though the mountain passes of Denali National Park between Fairbanks and Anchorage, rising over 10,000 feet in elevation throughout the race.

Black's song, entitled "A Better Life" is an upbeat tale of a man who's "got a new job, searching for a better life." Its message of never giving up or settling for second best is perfect for the awe-inspiring accomplishments of the paralyzed wheelchair athletes in the film. The Oscar short-list is the first stage of selection for the upcoming awards, followed by Academy Award nomination for a chosen few songs later this month.
