Kathak Choreographer Rina Singha along with Guest Director Danny Grossman, presents the WORLD PREMIERE of CIRCLE OF BRICKS - Rhythms of Kathak Dance, March 20-22, 2014 at the Fleck Dance Theatre.

CIRCLE OF BRICKS . the traditional patterns and intricate technique of kathak, the classical dance of the temples and courts of North India. The work progresses from the slow, undulating Thaat poses to the fast and intricate rhythm Tukre, while exploring the versatility of the rhythmic elements of kathak through innovative movement patterns, which highlight the joy and excitement that comes from allowing rhythm to decorate and guide body movement.

The performance also includes the WORLD PREMIERE presentation of The Tower, a contemporized telling of the Tower of Babel, co-directed by internationally acclaimed choreographer, Danny Grossman.

CIRCLE OF BRICKS features a diverse cast of Canadian kathak dance artists; Hemant and Vaishali Panwar, Reshmi Chetram, Shanta Chikarmane, Nisheeth Nirjhum Proshanti, Chad Walasek, along with Divya Gossai, Sharda Samaroo, Neetika Sharma, Farzana Aluddin and guest artist, Eddie Kastrau.
