Founded in 1992, this company of 32 accomplished dancers and musicians will present the essence of traditional folkloric styles with modern dance idioms. The company has toured internationally-the first folkloric company to tour Asia-and enjoyed a residency in The Kennedy Center. The work to be performed on Stage One, Mexico en Movimiento begins in the enigmatic realm of Aztec mythology and journeys onward, offering an exciting glimpse of Mexico's evolving present, and the afterlife. Pacífico Dance Company will perform Mexico en Movimiento on Fri, Oct 4, 2013; 7:30 pm. Tickets are $19-$29; Premium $39; Students with ID are $12. Tickets are available online at www.harriscenter.net or from Harris Center Ticket Office at 916-608-6888 from 10 am to 6 pm, Monday through Saturday, and two hours before show time. Parking is included in the price of the ticket. Harris Center is located on the west side of Folsom Lake College campus in Folsom, CA, facing East Bidwell Street. Pacifíco Dance Company is dedicated to the preservation and reconstruction of classical and contemporary Mexican dance forms. Under the Artistic direction of Adriana Astorga-Gainey, Pacifíco Dance Company has performed for audiences across the nation and internationally, educating culturally diverse communities as well as providing Hispanic audiences with a forum for developing pride in their own heritage.

Past works include Frida Kahlo, the Legend of La Llorona, Salón México, Mictlan, Calacas Clandestinas, and the Virgin of Guadalupe. Pre-Hispanic works from Concheros and traditional dances from Jalisco, Guerrero, Puebla, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Michoacan, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas and Veracruz round out the repertoire. Mexico en Movimiento --Pacifico Dance Company 's newest production-- explores Mexico's past indigenous tradition and submerges into the enigmatic realm of Aztec mythology and their ideas of the world. Along with colorful suites from various regions of Mexico, this new work will give an exciting glimpse into Mexico's cultural treasures that reflect its luminous past, evolving present, and the afterlife.
