The Joyce Theater is proud to present the Seattle-based Pacific Northwest Ballet (PNB), under the direction of former New York City Ballet dancer Peter Boal, returning after a wildly successful sold-out 2010 engagement, from October 8 - 12. With this return engagement, PNB will present two East Coast premieres by choreographers Christopher Wheeldon and Alejandro Cerrudo, and a preview of a brand new work by New York City Ballet principal dancer and acclaimed choreographer Justin Peck. Tickets, starting at $10, can be purchased through JoyceCharge at 212-242-0800 or online at www.joyce.org. The Joyce Theater is located at 175 Eighth Avenue at 19th Street.

Pacific Northwest Ballet presents the East Coast premieres of works recently choreographed for the company by Christopher Wheeldon (Tide Harmonic, set to original music by Joby Talbot, with whom Mr. Wheeldon collaborated on the successful Alice's Adventures in Wonderland) and Alejandro Cerrudo (Memory Glow, an ensemble piece for ten), and a preview of Justin Peck's new work, Debonair, which will have its official world premiere this November in Seattle.

Tide Harmonic
Music: Jody Talbot ("Tide Harmonic," 2009; arranged 2013)
Choreography: Christopher Wheeldon
Costume Design: Holly Hynes
Lighting Design: Randall G. Chiarelli
Premiere: May 31, 2013, Pacific Northwest Ballet

Choreographed for four couples, the work is set to "Tide Harmonic," a score for chamber orchestra by British composer Jody Talbot. Conceived as a dance work, Tide Harmonic has been specially arranged for Wheeldon's new ballet. Talbot describes the score as "a kind of water symphony that, rather than constructing a poetic or narrative program inspired by man's relationship with water, instead focuses on the substance itself, the forces that act upon it, and the energy that flows through and from it." Tide Harmonic marked Wheeldon's first creation for Pacific Northwest Ballet and the fifth Wheeldon ballet to enter the company's repertory.

Memory Glow
Music:Alexander Desplat (Syriana), David Lang ("Little Eye" from Child), Cliff Martinez ("The Cabin" from The Company You Keep), Atli Övarsson (A Single Shot), Max Richter ("Berlin By Overnight" and "Vladimir's Blues"), Teho Teardo ("The Model Policeman")
Choreography:Alejandro Cerrudo
Costume Design: Mark Zappone
Lighting Design: Randall G. Chiarelli
Premiere: March 14, 2014, Pacific Northwest Ballet

The contemporary ballet Memory Glow, created with the support of The Joyce Theater's Rudolf Nureyev Prize for New Dance exhibits a complex combination of partner work to create a physical conversation, exploring the feelings and effects involved in the creation of memory. Alejandro Cerrudo's choreography, infrequent musical accompaniment, and Randall G. Chiarelli's haunting lighting combine to depict memory's emotional weight as it is transferred between the female and male dancers. Memory Glow is a true testament to PNB's success in creating and performing contemporary dance.

Debonair (preview performance)
Music:George Anthiel ("Serenade for String Orchestra No. 1," 1948)
Choreography:Justin Peck
Costume Design: Rein Bartelme and Harriet Jung
Lighting Design: Randall G. Chiarelli
Premiere: November 7, 2014, Pacific Northwest Ballet
