The Children's Ballet Theatre of Michigan has announced the 2015 Summer Touring Company schedule. Director Gregory M. George and the parent-led board of directors have reached out to several venues in an effort to share ballet with the local community. Confirmed performances include Grand Ledge Island Art Festival on August 1st, Bath Days August 8th, St. John's Mint Festival August 15th and 16th, Dewitt Ox Roast August 21st and a pregame performance at the Lansing Lugnuts game on August 22nd.

"We are thrilled to present Greater Lansing patrons with a diverse repertory of classical and contemporary works that will showcase the breadth and depth of the Company's talent," remarked CBT Artistic Director & Principal Choreographer Gregory George. "It's an amazing line up of festivals and we're honored to present to these audiences."

The hour long show is comprised of modern songs by Pitbull, Casey Abrams, Jeanine Tesori and The Lion King Soundtrack as well as music by classical artists. The highlight of the show is an extraordinary zombie finale to Michael Jackson's Thriller.

This summer, CBT dancers will extend their mission of Kids Helping Kids by dedicating the tour to Princess Lacey's Legacy. The foundation affirms the plight of Lacey Holsworth of St. John's, Michigan who was diagnosed with Stage IV neuroblastoma cancer at the age of six. During her battle to survive, Lacey was given the pleasure of dancing through customized private lessons. This brought her hope through her darkest hours. After her passing, Lacey's parents pledged to fulfill her wish of helping other pediatric cancer patients experience the joy, hope and victory she did through enhanced therapy sessions that include dance.

'I'm extremely proud of the performance experiences CBT has given my daughter," said Board Chair Michelle Renfrew. "She has benefitted even more through her participation in the company's charity outreach."

Acclaimed performances of classical and contemporary ballets, combined with a dedication to world class dance education and community outreach programs have made CBT a leader in its field, with a 35 year history of promoting excellence and access to dance. The audition based company is comprised of over 50 dancers ages 8-18 who reside throughout Michigan. Company auditions for aspiring new dancers will take place August 16th at the CBT studio in Old Town. Children must be 8 years old to participate. An audition schedule and summer tour information is available on their website www.cbtdance.org.
