American Ballet Theatre Adds Omar Mir and Kathy Taggares to Board of Trustees
The New York-based company expands its board with leaders in global technology and entrepreneurship.
American Ballet Theatre will welcome two leaders to its Board of Trustees: Dr. Omar Mir, a globally recognized technology executive and philanthropist, and Kathy Taggares, an accomplished entrepreneur and long-time civic advocate. Together, their appointments reflect ABT's commitment to building a board of diverse expertise and shared passion for the performing arts—bringing together decades of leadership across international business, emerging technology, entrepreneurship, and community service in support of ABT's artistic mission and continued growth.
Dr. Mir brings more than 25 years of global technology and organizational leadership experience, having spearheaded transformative initiatives across the UK, Europe, the United States, and the Middle East. He currently serves as the International Board Member of World Wide Technology (WWT), the largest privately owned technology company in the United States, and sits on the boards of several U.S.-owned companies at the forefront of emerging technology. In addition to his corporate leadership, Dr. Mir advocates for the support of young people through innovative technology as the King's Trust International Advisor on AI and Advanced Technology and Principal Benefactor and Founding Principal Benefactor of the Trust's Generation Potential campaign.
Taggares is an accomplished businesswoman, entrepreneur, and philanthropist whose leadership spans nearly four decades. She is the sole owner and president of KT's Kitchens, Inc., a frozen food manufacturing company based in Carson, California, which employs approximately 250 people. Beyond her professional achievements, Taggares is deeply committed to philanthropy and civic leadership. Her work includes long-standing mentorship initiatives supporting youth in underserved communities, as well as significant contributions to animal welfare organizations, most notably a decade-long partnership with the ASPCA.
