Over 40 of the nation's top college dance programs are set to participate in Dancewave's (dancewave.org) upcoming nationwide event in NYC, Dancing Through College & Beyond 2015. Taking place on Sunday, October 18th from 8:30am-6pm at the 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Center (1395 Lexington Ave.), high school students from all over the country can experience an exciting full day event exploring college dance programs and the chance to meet one on one with dance program chairs, renowned faculty & choreographers, alumni, and students from a range of U.S. colleges. In addition, the event offers the opportunity for dancers to audition for participating colleges, eliminating the prohibitive costs of traveling to each school. The day ends with a special Showcase Performance at 5:30pm with performances from the dance departments of Hofstra, Middlebury, Montclair, Pace & Temple Universities.

Offered completely free to all student participants, Dancing Through College & Beyond is a one of a kind national event which serves over 300 high school students annually and aims to form personal connections between the current generation of leading dance professionals and the next. The event also helps students explore college dance opportunities and assists them in navigating the college admissions process. Two unique aspects of the program include a performance by several participating colleges and new this year is a Live College Audition at 3:45pm for over 20 participating colleges.

The Dancing Through College & Beyond day on October 18th includes discussion panels with distinguished college department chairs & education specialists, dance classes taught by notable college dance faculty, and a college fair where students network with representatives from over 40 top U.S. college dance departments. Students will learn about the wide range of programs offered by various dance departments, and how these programs provide career opportunities that range from professional dancer to dance educator to dance therapist and more. Panel discussions provide practical tips for submitting applications, requesting financial aid, and auditioning.

Dancewave is so proud to be able to give this free opportunity to students belonging to various backgrounds who want to expand and transition their careers into dance through higher education. Learn more about the event and how to register here.
