Violinist Rachel Barton Pine Leads LACO Baroque Conversations, Today

Rachel Barton Pine, a consummate violinist and master of the viola d'amore, leads Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) Baroque Conversations on Thursday, February 9, 2017, 7:30 pm, at Zipper Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. The program includes Vivaldi's Concerto in D major for Viola d'amore and Orchestra and Concerto in D minor for Viola d'amore and Orchestra, two of his eight concertos for viola d'amore. Also featured are Pisendel's Imitation des Caractères de la Danse and Locatelli's Concerto No. 12 in D major, from L'Arte del Violino, "The Harmonic Labyrinth."
Pine, hailed by the Washington Post as "an exciting, boundary-defying performer who displays a power and confidence that puts her in the top echelon," is celebrated as a leading interpreter of great classical and contemporary works. She is an avid performer of Baroque, Renaissance and medieval music on Baroque violin, viola d'amore, Renaissance violin and rebec.The Chicago Tribune praised her "deft, stylish playing," adding "In everything, the spirit and sensitivity of Pine's playing were informed by her mastery of the instrument's intricate technical demands."
