Philippe Treuille's Requiem will receive its world premiere on Friday, January 30th, 2015, at 8:00 PM, at the Church of the Incarnation, in New York City. The 9-movement work is the first large-scale work by the NYC-based, Juilliard-trained composer, and will feature 50 performers from the Symphony Chorus, conducted by maestro Henric Idestrom. The hour-long Requiem blends traditional and modern compositional techniques, with a choir of 28 including 4 soloists and a 22-piece orchestra. The text is drawn entirely from the original Latin Mass for the dead.

There will be a catered reception following the performance, with a hand-written manuscript of the Requiem score, by the composer, on display. There will also be a recording session of the Requiem on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2015, at 6:30 PM.

Philippe Treuille was born in New York City in 1984, to French and American parents. After receiving the Trinity School Music Prize and a National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts Music Composition Merit Award in 2002, he studied under Dr. Christopher Rouse at the Juilliard School before graduating in 2008 from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Music in Composition and a Bachelor of Arts in History. He composed a series of pieces for the Classical Saxophone Project, which were premiered in New York City and around France between 2010 and 2013. He has also composed music for Thotbooks, a series of instructive children's stories, and was invited by the company's creator to be a resident at the Chateau Mercier Foundation in Sierre, Switzerland. It was here that he began composing his Requiem, and he continued to compose as he traveled through Switzerland, Germany, France and England, before completing it in 2014 in the United States.
