From May 29 to June 1, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal will be hosting delegates to the annual international get-together of the Major Orchestra Librarians' Association (MOLA). "We're especially pleased to be playing host to the participants in the 33rd conference of the Major Orchestra Librarians' Association," declared Madeleine Careau, chief executive officer of the OSM. "We hope that Montreal will prove to be the ideal place to meet and exchange ideas among music-librarian colleagues, in the open and creative spirit that our city offers. Welcome!"

The international event consists of a series of lectures, roundtables and peer sessions on topics such as innovative practices and the rich tradition surrounding the profession, as well as a tour of the Grand Orgue Pierre-Béique and the opportunity to hear the OSM in the closing event of the 2015-2016 season, that being Act One of Wagner's Die Walküre in a concert version under the direction of Maestro Kent Nagano.

Michel Léonard, the OSM music librarian

"Music librarians play an essential role in keeping up the wonderful tradition of the orchestral concert," recalled the OSM music director, Kent Nagano. "We know how much our intensive workload, the importance we attach to uncompromising musical integrity and the quality of our performances could not be realized without the contribution of our own music librarian, Michel Léonard. I would like to thank him and all music librarians for the diligent efforts they make to assist us, the musicians and conductors. Their high standards are an inspiration for us to excel onstage."
