Nathan James and Susanna Kurner are back for another exciting evening of blues and straight-ahead jazz at the 100-seat New Village Arts Theatre. If you love to really listen to great music, this is the venue!

As heard on XM/Sirius radio, and just back from a European tour, Nathan James specializes in blues and American roots music. His most recent CD, Hollerin!, won self-produced CD of the year at the 2009 International Blues Competition in Memphis. At age 19 he was asked to join the internationally known James Harman band and began touring extensively. Then he led an award-winning duo with Ben Hernandez, with whom he won the 2007 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Currently, Nathan is working on a solo CD due out this summer.  With influences ranging from Son House, Blind Blake, Big Bill Broonzy, T-bone Walker, Muddy Waters to B.B. King, Nathan represents the entire spectrum of blues guitar.  For this concert he will be presenting his top notch band featuring musical cohort Troy Sandow switching off between upright bass and harmonica.

Classically trained at the Hartt Conservatory and Manhattan School of Music, Susanna Kurner’s unique jazz and blues stylings will be showcased with Nathan James at New Village Arts Theatre. Comfortable with singing in many languages and styles, Susanna has been dividing her performance time between the east and west coasts for the past couple of years. Susanna cites Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, and Julie London among her musical influences.
