Musicians of Lenox Hill Performs at the Temple Israel of the City of New York, 4/27

On Thursday, April 27 at 8 PM, the Musicians of Lenox Hill, under the artistic direction of Soo-Kyung Park, will perform at the Temple Israel of the City of New York located at 112 East 75th Street in New York City. The program, entitled "From Mourning to Morning: Music of War and Peace" features Sibelius' Duo for Violin and Viola in C Major, Liszt's Après une Lecture de Dante: Fantasia quasi Sonata for Solo Piano, Concertino for Flute, Viola and Piano by Bloch, and Mendelssohn's String Quartet No. 2 in A minor, op 13.

The concert is free to the public. Donations are gratefully accepted at the door.

Featured performers are Emilie-Anne Gendron and Anna Elashvili, violins, Wei-Yang Andy Lin, viola, Sean Katsuyama, cello, Orion Weiss, piano and Soo-Kyung Park, flute. New York Concert Review hailed the ensemble as "exemplary throughout" and "extremely impressive, technically and musically." Each of the artists have international solo and chamber music careers, performing with major ensembles and winning many of the world's most prestigious music competitions.

Pianist and Avery Fisher Career Grant Awardee, Orion Weiss has performed with the major American orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony, Boston Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and New York Philharmonic, and has recorded extensively for the Naxos label with conductor JoAnn Falletta, among others. Violinist Emilie-Anne Gendron is a member of the Momenta Quartet, a two-time recipient of the prestigious Koussevitzky Foundation commission grants, and regularly joins the rosters of Musicians from Marlboro. Anna Elashvili, hailed as "riveting" by the New York Times, is a founding member of Decoda, the first Ensemble-in-Residence of Carnegie Hall. Taiwanese born violist and erhuist (Chinese violin), Wei-Yang Andy Lin, is recognized as one of the most promising active performers of today, and has won the Taiwan National Viola Competition and First Prize in the Juilliard Viola Concerto Competition. Cellist Sean Katsuyama, a frequent performer on New York's concert stages and Broadway theaters is a founding member of the Iris Quartet, and was a member of the Hong Kong Philharmonic and Pacific Music Festival Orchestras. Flutist Soo-Kyung Park has performed solo and chamber music concerts in the United States, and throughout Europe and Asia. She is currently an Artist Professor at New York University as well as a faculty member of the Manhattan School of Music, Pre-College Division. As the founding member and artistic director of the Musicians of Lenox Hill, she has led the ensemble for annual performances at the Temple of Israel in NYC for nearly two decades. In 2013, her first album, "Reminiscing" was released under SONY Korea label.
