La Chapelle Scènes Contemporaines unveils today its entire 2022-2023 season. As usual, this 32nd season will be faithful to its mandate, open to hybrid and transversal forms by offering a panoramic vision of creation, in all its diversity:

More than 150 artists and collaborators will be at the heart of the 25 interdisciplinary shows presented on the fringes of dance, theater, circus and performance.

Young creation strongly represented

Recurring events include Les Salons acoustiques, the Queer Performance Camp and L'Autre Cirque.

Artists from Montreal, Quebec, Canada and worldwide.

A majority of new creations presented in premieres

More bilingual than ever programming with performances in French, English and surtitles in both languages.

Renewed collaborations with the FTA, Festival Phenomena, Danse-Cité, TOHU, MONTREAL COMPLÈTEMENT CiRQUE, OK LA

This 32nd Season will begin, in the middle of the summer, with the program L'Autre Cirque, presented from July 11 to 14 in collaboration with TOHU as part of the Festival MONTREAL COMPLÈTEMENT CiRQUE. Two different programs for four projects addressing the circus in its most alternative forms.

From September 6 to 10, young actress, writer and director Roxane Loumède will present an adaptation of Jean Genet's classic with her creation Proje(c)t; Les Bonnes.

On September 15 and 16, music with Montreal-based group Thus Owls. Starring Erika Angell and Simon Angell, this Concert + will bring together seven artists for an evening of performance and musical installation.

From September 29 to October 1, Danse-Cité will present Toronto artist Aisha Sasha John, who will gather five multidisciplinary performers as part of his new creation, Diana Ross DREAM.

From October 6 to 15, after the success of La Vie littéraire, author Mathieu Arseneault and director Christian Lapointe will once again be gathered for a live art object in the form of Spoken Word and Dark Synth Wave concert. They are joined by Eve Landry and Mélodie Bujold-Henri. A perfect opportunity for a new collaboration with the Phenomena Festival.

On October 24, 25 and 28, choreographer and dancer Kimberly de Jong and electronic musician Jason Sharp will partner to create The Day the Wild Cried. At the heart of their concerns are the ongoing issues surrounding our environmental impact.

From November 4 to 12, Etienne Lepage and Alix Dufresne will take over Malaise dans la civilisation, created for the last edition of the FTA - Festival TransAmérique. Strange and playful, this play carried by four actors gives to observe complex and captivating beings who venture to the limit of moral values in all innocence.

On November 7 and 9, Catalan artist Agnes Matheus from Barcelona will be in the spotlight with his powerful performance on the feminicide Rebota rebota y en tu cara explota.

On November 19 and 20, Le Vivier, the crossroads of new music, will make its entrance in La Chapelle for a regular presence throughout the seasons.

We will receive from November 28 to December 6, the creation of Gabriel Léger Savard and Marilyn Daoust, recipients of the residency of creation in new artistic practices offered in collaboration with the Conseil des arts de Montréal and the REPAIR and which will take place...in La Chapelle! L du Deluge will bring together a choir and a woman for an interdisciplinary creation bringing together song, dance, theater and performance.

On 12, 13 and 14 December, Simon Renault will close 2022 with La complainte du givre création where two women launch themselves body and soul into a play exploring the vulnerability of our relationships in a dialogue between dance and music.

Talisman Théâtre will open the new year 2023 from January 16 to 28 with the creation Wildfire, an English adaptation of David Paquet's hit play Le Brasier, directed by Philippe Cyr.

At the beginning of February, the 7th edition of the Queer Performance Camp will offer us another opportunity to partner with our precious partners, Studio 303 and in MAI - Montreal, Arts Interculturels. Two projects will be presented, one by Jordan Brown followed by How to Fail as a Popstar by Vivek Shraya.

From February 13 to 16, multidisciplinary artist Claudia Chan Tak will create Au revoir zébu, a work inspired by her grandmother.

From February 20 to 23, it is also the loved one who will be at the heart of I miss my grandma so sad by François Bouvier, creation between dance, circus and performance.

From March 6 to 8, the scenographer Audrée Lewka will sign a work that promises to be very colorful with the Working Title, Audrée, David and Guillaume are presents (for about 1h)

From March 15 to 18, a new unusual performance will be in the spotlight with She's Late -A circus show, by Camille Lacelle-Wilsey and Nien Tzu Weng.

March 22, 24 and 26 mark the return of the musical rendez-vous Les Salons Acoustiques. The simplicity of the device, without a microphone or speaker, offers a unique opportunity to listen to and play today's music differently in an intimate and sensory experience.

On April 30, 31 and 1, Thomas Duret will present 1 heure pour sauver le théâtre, a scenic project focusing on the status quo, privilege systems, power dynamics and this porous zone that allows fiction to coexist with reality.

On April 11, 13, 14 and 15, Michael Martini will discuss with Landscape Grindr a very personal story, evoked through reflections on topical themes such as sexual violence, the destruction of nature and their constant media coverage through screens.

From May 1 to 9, Emmanuel Schwartz will be back on our stage for the creation of the solo Le Partage, a game of encrypted confidences, in which an esteemed actor reconstructs his identity through the contradictory views of witnesses to his fall.

From May 12 to 14, the Quebeco-Belgian team will offer Au jardin des Potiniers, a contemplative and playful immersion in a territory where invented botany is being built.
