Historians and folk music lovers will rejoice when they come together to enjoy composer and violinist Jenny Scheinman's presentation of Kannapolis: A Moving Portrait, a live musical performance with Robbie Gjersoe and Robbie Fulks, set to the footage of H. Lee Waters at 7:30 p.m., March 7 at the Autorino Center for the Arts, University of Saint Joseph.

This important historical footage of America's past incorporates the timeless Americana sound of Scheinman's original compositions. "H. Lee Waters' film is a window into America's past, it is like unearthing a time capsule that reminds us of what America was, and seeing what America was makes us see what America is in a new and fresh way," says Autorino Center director and curator of the American Roots Festival, Steven Raider-Ginsburg. "Although these films were made close to 80 years ago, they relate to Connecticut and our region's diverse culture by portraying working class Americans in their everyday unpolished moments."

Originally commissioned by Duke Performances, Kannapolis: A Moving Potrait is part of the American Roots Festival at USJ, a series of uniquely American performances and workshops at the Autorino Center for the Arts and runs until April 21, 2017.

Tickets are $25 for Adults | $20 for Seniors, Let's Go Arts and USJ Alumni| $15 Students with valid ID and can be purchased at the Frances Driscoll Box Office: 860.231.5555 or online at tickets.usj.edu.
