Staff Conductor Jere Flint will lead the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) in "Sounds of the Symphony" - part of the ASO's Family Concert Series - on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.

The family-friendly concert will introduce audiences to the thrill of the orchestra through the exploration of instruments from the brass, woodwind, percussion, and string families. Mr. Flint and a guest narrator will help children and adults discover the sounds of the symphony through new and exciting works, including Gregory Smith's Mr. Smith's Composition, Michael Lankester's A Pocket Guide to the Orchestra, and Russell Peck's The Thrill of the Orchestra.

Prior to the concerts, patrons will also be able to see, hear, touch, and play various orchestral instruments as part of an Instrument Petting Zoo in the Atlanta Symphony Hall lobby.

Family Concerts are an essential first step in exposing children to classical music. Providing a rich musical environment can give a child a greater understanding of his or her culture and help develop a strong musical identity.

Single tickets for this performance are $15-$20. Additional details are available at aso.org/sounds.
