Guest conductor Marc Piollet will make his Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) debut February 27, 2014, at 8:00 p.m., February 28, 2014, at 8:00 p.m., and March 1, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center. Mr. Piollet - who has held previous posts with the Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Halle, Staatstheater Kassel, Volksoper Wien, and Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden - will lead the Orchestra in Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture and Tchaikovsky's expressive Fifth Symphony, one of the composer's most popular works.

American violinist Hilary Hahn will perform the ASO premiere of Nielsen's rarely performed, lyrically dramatic Violin Concerto. Ms. Hahn recently released a new album, In 27 Pieces: the Hilary Hahn Encores, with pianist Cory Smythe. This recording is the culmination of a multi-year project to renew the encore genre. Ms. Hahn commissioned 26 composers from around the world to write short-form works, and for the 27th encore, she held an open contest that drew more than 400 entries. These performances will mark Ms. Hahn's third appearance with the ASO.

Single tickets for this performance are $24-$75. More details are available at aso.org/hahn.
