Gorilla Rep Auditions Over 800 Actors For Joan Of Arc 6/1 In Central Park

By:

In a massive outpouring of volunteer spirit from New York's acting community, GORILLA REPERTORY THEATER has had record numbers of professional actors request an audition for roles in its free, outdoor world premiere production of JOAN OF ARC by Robert Steven Ackerman. GORILLA REP plans to accommodate each & every one of these civic-minded artists by hosting a massive audition event in Central Park, where they will audition for Founding Artistic & Producing Director Christopher Carter Sanderson, personally. Sanderson plans on seeing over 800 actors (at last count) on Monday, June 1st at 9am & 1pm.

GORILLA REP'S "Summer 2009 Audition Event" will be held at Central Park's Summit Rock, near 85th Street & Central Park West. The actors, scheduled for specific times, will be performing 3-minute Shakespearean monologues. Callbacks will be informed after the four-day event is concluded.

Best known for its acclaimed productions of Shakespeare & other classics in its rollicking, mobile style in New York City Parks, Gorilla Rep's JOAN OF ARC is a world-premiere commission for the company.
GORILLA REP'S mission is to provide the highest quality productions of classical, dramatic material with the flavor of contemporary immediacy, and to present those productions free of charge to the general public, throughout New York's public spaces & the New York City Park system.

DATE: Monday, June 1st at 9am & 1pm
LOCATION: Central Park's Summit Rock, near 85th St. & Central Park West
