Maestra Marin Alsop will lead the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) in a performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and John Adams' On the Transmigration of Souls tonight, June 5 at 8 p.m., Friday, June 6 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, June 8 at 3 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and on Saturday, June 7 at 8 p.m. at The Music Center at Strathmore.

John Adams' On the Transmigration of Souls was composed in response to the horrific acts against humanity that occurred on September 11, 2001. It is intended to be a "memory space," where people can "go and be alone with their thoughts." The piece is paired with Beethoven's enduring Ninth Symphony, performed by the Baltimore Choral Arts Society with soprano Angela Meade, mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano, tenor Dimitri Pittas and bass-baritone James Morris. Johnson Cano and Pittas are making their BSO debuts. Please see below for complete details.
