On October 20th the Adelphi Orchestra will be featured on New Jersey's official arts website and social media as the orchestra literally takes over "ARToberNJ."

The Adelphi Orchestra joins hundreds of arts organizations across the Garden State in commemorating October as Discover Jersey Arts Month with the launch its 63rd year of "Music for All" and season opening concert, Young Artist Concert Sunday October 23rd at 3PM, River Dell Regional High School Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public and is supported by a 2015 Grant from New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, through funds administered by Bergen County.

Adelphi Orchestra's Young Artist Concert will feature sixteen year old violin soloist Nathan Meltzer, the first place winner of the 2015- 2016Adelphi Orchestra Young Artist Competition. Nathan will take the stage with Sibelius's Concerto for Violin in D minor, Op. 4. The concert will also feature Smetana's The Moldau, Dvorak's Symphony no 8 in G major, Op. 88/B 163.

By proclamation of Governor Christie, Discover Jersey Arts Month is an annual celebration designed to encourage all New Jerseyans to explore the arts in their distinctive neighborhoods, and was created by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the ArtPride New Jersey Foundation to commemorate the joy, entertainment and enrichment arts bring to the state's diverse communities. "We began to honor October as Discover Jersey Arts Month as a way to celebrate the often overlooked economic, educational and civic engagement values that the arts impart in our lives," says Ann Marie Miller, Director of Advocacy & Public Policy of ArtPride New Jersey. "It's also an excellent opportunity to recognize the contributions of cultural organizations in our region, such as the Adelphi Orchestra, that bring the arts to the forefront of our communities daily."

For the past 63 years the Adelphi Orchestra has played a critical role in Bergen County and throughout northern New Jersey's cultural community. The mission of the Adelphi Orchestra is to serve the musical and educational needs of the citizens of New Jersey, with special emphasis given to families with young children, seniors and those with limited financial means. To further this end, numerous concerts are offered free of admission charges. The Adelphi Orchestra strives to advance the orchestral arts through education, commissions, and community partnerships. Within the orchestra, the company fosters a challenging and enjoyable environment where artistic excellence can flourish

With unsurpassed performers, award-winning theaters, breathtaking performing arts centers, unique museums and exceptional galleries, New Jersey has extraordinary art offerings. From sculpture gardens to glass museums, modern dance to classic ballet and Mozart to hip-hop, the Garden State has it all. And throughout October, the Adelphi Orchestra and arts organizations throughout the region will carry the message that these arts - and countless others- are an important part of everyone's life.

"Studies consistently show that involvement in the arts aids children in school and promotes academic achievement. But the benefits of the arts certainly don't stop there," continued Miller. "When we talk to community leaders, we hear repeatedly how important the arts sector is to local economies. For one, the nonprofit arts community supports 80,000 jobs in the state. And audiences of public arts events in the state exceed 18 million, and help stimulate over $1.5 billion in economic activity for New Jersey."

Community members are encouraged to participate in the work of the Adelphi Orchestra and celebrate the arts every day.
