Children will soon be able to exercise their imaginations and writing skills in the first book of a new Write Your Own Ending series by veteran 92-year-old author, poet, and dramatist Howard Eisenberg due from Mascot Press in mid-November.

The Amazing Adventures of Superdreidel stars two intrepid children who design and build a super dreidel -- amazingly powered by their mother's blender - that speeds them backward in time to the days of the Maccabees. The whimsically rhymed narrative is themed to the 8-day biblical holiday, Hanukkah, which begins Dec. 3rd.

Near the book's dramatic conclusion, a Greek army elephant is about to trample the brave young adventurers when two blank pages suddenly appear in the book. Here's where young readers are invited to pen endings of their own, or read to the end and later compare their endings to the author's. Fresh co-author endings can be e-mailed to sirhowardeisenberg@gmail.com .

Authors of the three best endings submitted in prose or, like the book, in verse, will receive autographed copies of Superdreidel and the next book in the series, The Dinosaur in the Elevator.

Earlier children's books by the author include the Guess Who series for pre-K and older children: Guess Who Zoo, Guess Who Farm, and Guess Who Neighborhood. They are "Fun that Educates" with clues in every line and the last word left blank for guessing. Howard co-authored five books with his late wife, Arlene Eisenberg, before she teamed with Heidi Murkoff to write the original "parenting bible" What to Expect books. Inspired by the team's Toddler Years book, he earned the title Toddler Poet Laureate" for writing 43 wry poems about toddlers in Adorable Scoundrels, a book that Huffington Post called "spot-on." His musical, The Million Dollar Bet, is now in staged readings.
