WASHINGTON, June 10, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ In his new book Tribe: On Homecoming and Belonging, best-selling author Sebastian Junger discusses the breakdown of our communities and explores what we can learn from tribal societies about loyalty, belonging and the eternal human quest for meaning. Mr. Junger will discuss his new book at a Newsmaker news conference at 10 am, June 16 in the club's Bloomberg Room.

Junger says humans have an innate preference to live in small groups defined by clear purpose. According to the author that connection has been lost in American society today.

The divisiveness of the campaigns of Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders has created huge new communities, according to Junger. The success of these candidates has grown from Americans' feelings of loss and alienation, and the dying sense of American community will be the death of what America is, Mr. Junger says.

Mr. Junger is a journalist and author whose other books are War and The Perfect Storm.
