When asked why his new novel Death by Numbers (published by Trafford Publishing) will appeal to readers, author Sam Harrison replies with a veritable checklist of exciting features, including "... business, murder, a great deal of money, schemes, thrills and action."

A once lucrative Canadian manufacturing business which rode the wave of soaring profits of the exchange rate with the U.S. dollar loses a great deal of money when Canadian currency becomes stronger. Suppliers are not getting paid, customers are unhappy and restructuring or closing the company doors seems inevitable.

It is at this tipping point when a pool of company employees wins big in the lottery. Just when things seem to be on the up-and-up, the lottery winners begin turning up dead, dropping one by one at the hands of murderers. With the killer or killers unknown, and the homicide investigation turning up no new evidence or clues, only a few survivors remain.

Death by Numbers is adapted from Harrison's own life story as a business director who lost big due to the fluctuation of the strength of currency in the United States and Canada. "The business end of it is a reality," he explains. "I was a director at a company that underwent the exchange rate fiasco and had the customer service end of it go crazy. I had to settle finances with my customers due to cost cutting resulting in poor quality."

Sam Harrison was born to European immigrant parents in Toronto where he was raised and educated. His career has spanned many fields, including delivery, manufacturing, entrepreneurship and morE. Harrison lives by the principle of hard work whether in times of great success or when business ventures turn sour. He lives in Toronto where he writes and works as a Director in Business Development.
